We are currently seeking to appoint a Chief Executive Officer to lead the business into the future based in our Parc du Cap offices in Bellville, Cape Town.

This role will report to the Chairman of the Board and lead a total team of 324 people. It will have the following direct reports:

  • Chief Operating Officer

  • Chief Information Officer

  • Chief Financial Officer

  • Executive: Business Efficiency and Change

  • Executive: Client Reporting and Business Development

  • Executive: Risk and Compliance

  • Executive: Human Resources

  • Executive Personal Assistant



Your current profile will centre around:

  • Extensive experience (10 years+) leading a large team in the financial services industry, ideally within investment administration

  • Solid knowledge of how the Asset Management industry in South Africa operates

  • Preferably with Board experience

  • Track record of managing risk and making sound business, financial and commercial decisions in businesses of the scale of Curo

  • Likely to be a CA (SA) (or equivalent) but definitely with a 4+ year University degree

  • A feel for intelligent automation and how it is changing the landscape for investment industry businesses, and with the associated experience overseeing large scale IT transformation projects and the accompanying culture change

  • Being a strong people leader who enjoys achieving results through others

  • Having deep experience managing varying stakeholders, including client relationships

  • Affinity for being close to the day-to-day business with deep understanding of operational risks in investment administration outsourcing

  • Having a strong client focus and enjoy marketing the business and its services

  • With extensive experience managing large projects



Your Key Responsibilities in this role will be:

  • Fiduciary responsibility as a member of the Board of Directors

  • Initiate and lead the strategic plans that will guide the business

  • Build and maintain strong stakeholder relationships – with Clients, the Board, Exco, Shareholders, the Regulator and Curo employees

  • Ensure the business is optimally designed to deliver the strategy while providing meaningful careers for Curo employees

  • Lead the Curo culture to support strategic plans and adapt as needed

  • Ensure sound financial management of the business for long term financial stability

  • Ensure adherence to Curo's risk, compliance and governance regulations and engender a strong risk management philosophy in the business

  • Participate in industry related events or associations that enhance Curo's reputation and grow the business through strong industry networks and new business leads

  • Report regularly to the Board of Directors

  • Oversee day-to-day operations
