The CCI team have once again assisted Tygerhof Primary School as one of the identified schools we will be assisting this year.
Six Tygerhof children participate in cross-country and have been deemed excellent runners with great potential. The six - Michael Mey, Malaci Harvey, Libongo Ngxamngxa, Dylan Moniz, Lorenzo Maasdorp and Hailey Carstens - unfortunately had no running shoes making their participation challenging given the terrain they run on.
CCI member, Albie de Waal, found a prospective donor in Hilton Murray, a 13-time Comrades participant. An obviously avid runner himself, Hilton is involved with a number of charities and agreed to donate a brand new pair of running shoes for each Tygerhof runner.
A handover was done in May which saw the CCI team visit the school to the surprise and delight of the talented runners.
“They were very excited to fit on their new running shoes and were full of smiles,” explained Albie. “We just want to thank Hilton Murray for his big donation and wish these children the best for the future. We will be keeping an eye on them, to give feedback on these future stars”.
The CCI team would also like to thank all staff who donated school jerseys, socks, rain jackets and stationery. These have been given to the school who will distribute to the children. Donations are still welcomed.
